In 1961, During the construction of Himal Iron & Steel factory, a Japanese site engineer, Mr. Kawano recommended Maniharsha Jyoti to try out the products of a small Japanese company, Honda. It was in 1967 that Jyoti Group first started importing Honda motorcycles to Nepal. With Nepal’s budding road network, Jyoti Group initially imported 11 units of Honda motorcycles.

Syakar Company (P) Ltd was established in 1976 by Maniharsha Jyoti. Its name is an abbreviation of “SYA-mu-KAR-pu”. It began with the distribution of Honda motorcycles in Nepal. In the following years, it continued to add brands and products to its range.
